Yuan Fang is a young Chinese-born abstract painter worth sustained attention within the international contemporary art system. Her work brings bodily experience, landscape, cultural memory, and gestural abstraction into a distinctive visual language.

方媛是目前国际当代艺术体系中值得持续关注的年轻华人抽象绘画艺术家之一。她的作品将身体经验、景观、文化记忆和手势性抽象转化为具有辨识度的视觉语言。

About the Artist

Yuan Fang was born in Shenzhen, China, in 1996 and is based in New York. She studied at the School of Visual Arts, where she received her MFA in 2022.

Her paintings are often large in scale and fully abstract, with lyrical swirls, dense movement, and forms that suggest bodies, landscape, space, and time.

Fang has exhibited with Skarstedt in New York and London, Half Gallery in New York, Prince & Wooster, and Hive Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing. In 2024 she was included in Forbes Asia 30 Under 30 and became the youngest artist to receive a solo exhibition at the Long Museum. Her work is listed in collections including ICA Miami, Lafayette Anticipations, The FLAG Art Foundation, Grand Rapids Art Museum, Inima de Paula Museum, and Long Museum.
